music has played an important role in my life
i think i learned to dance before i could walk
my father is a huge fan of music
we listened to his albums each night after dinner
i was born in 74
so it was all about the vinyl
i adored looking at the covers
the designs and colors
and would pretend to read the words
while singing along
this never got old
it was a ritual that i look back on and fondly
as for jonh lennon - he was part of our family
at least that’s how it seemed
the day he was killed was one i will never forget
it was the first time i saw my father cry
i come from a large family
my father is one of six children
my mother is one of five
i have one brother
20 cousins
and grew up knowing three of my grandparents
the holidays – especially christmas – were filled with goodness
waiting for my father to get home from work on christmas eve was
beyond exciting
and the 20 minute drive to my grandparents felt like an eternity
once in the door surrounded by family, food and gifts
the night was magic in slow but fast motion
happy christmas.
